The Waldorf School of Mendocino County was founded with one purpose - to build a space for all students to grow, learn and create with each passing day. Through Waldorf education, a unique teaching approach and a truly passionate faculty, we help students develop academically and personally to their full potential.
Founded in 1972, WSMC is the oldest independent school in Mendocino County. For over five decades, we have been committed to excellence, and to educating confident human beings who have the creativity, ethics, and moral strength to know and to practice peace.

PARENT CHILD
Roots & Shoots
Our Roots and Shoots program provides education and resources for families and their children from 1-3 years of age. Families come together in an inviting home-like environment where young children are encouraged to explore their world through imaginative play.
EARLY CHILDHOOD
Preschool / Kindergarten
Our Early Childhood program fosters the development of the whole child. Each classroom is warm, inviting, orderly, and intentionally filled with beautiful, natural materials. The Early Childhood Program consists of Preschool and Kindergarten and is a gentle place where children can imagine freely, while feeling safe and comfortable.
LOWER GRADES
Grades 1 - 5
The educational journey begins in the lower grades, Grades 1 - 5, where students learn how to learn. Using students’ strong imaginations and curiosity, foundational concepts are introduced through exploration and discovery.
UPPER GRADES
Grades 6 -8
To meet the evolving needs of the growing student, rigorous academics and artistic studies are expanded and deepened. Self-discovery and exploration are encouraged in the Grades 6 - 8.
OUR PROGRAMS
